A Scandal In Bohemia

To Sherlock Holmes she is always THE woman.
I have seldom heard him mention her under any other name.

In his eyes she eclipses and predominates the whole of her sex. It was not that he felt any emotion akin to love for her. All emotions, and that one particularly, were abhorrent to his cold, precise but admirably balanced mind. He was, I take it, the most perfect reasoning and observing machine that the world has seen, but as a lover he would have placed himself in a false position. He never spoke of the softer passions, save with a gibe and a sneer. They were admirable things for the observer--excellent for drawing the veil from men's motives and actions.

But for the trained reasoner to admit such intrusions into his own delicate and finely adjusted temperament was to introduce a distracting factor which might throw a doubt upon all his mental results. Grit in a sensitive instrument, or a crack in one of his own high-power lenses, would not be more disturbing than a strong emotion in a nature such as his.
And yet there was but one woman to him, and that woman was the late Irene Adler, of dubious and questionable memory.

From "A Scandal In Bohemia" by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

  5. I know it's not popular but...I liked Nicole (Tess runs for cover) Bobby was at his best when he was dealing with her.

    Fabulous post jazzy :)

  6. I'm with Tess - (running to hide). Not only was Bobby at his best as a conflicted man because he understood the evil in her, there was also some amazing sexual chemistry between the two characters. And he wasn't the same when he found out she was dead. Bobby really needed closure on that one.

  7. I agree with Tess and Mauigirl. Loved the show with Nicole in them.

  8. The Good always needs The Bad to be good. And Nicole was the perfect incarnation of evil!

  9. I think she was a great foil for him. There, now I promise to deny every word when we have our Vixen reunion in the summer, Diane.

  10. the one-to-one's with swmnbn were some of the greatest scenes in the history of lo:ci ----- i'll never forget the first time I saw them head on - i was so shocked that i must have rewound over a dozen times - i couldn't believe the power, the intensity and bobby's vulnerability

To be honest, I thought they were GREAT together - I just loathe Nicole for being able to 'torture' sweet Bobby....and I need to talk to him about LETTING her ;0)

  12. C'mon Diane, each one of us would like to torture sweet Bobby. LOL! (albeit in a 'nice' and 'entertaining' way).

  13. She got to be in that veal Parmesan scene with him (one of my dozens of nominations for Bobby At His Hottest), and for that I'd like to have put her heart in a box. But she was someone it was fun to hate, which takes talent.
