The War At Home

That sufferer, that touching face
Bowed down with love and sorrow
That rapt emotion lights the scene
Where pain holds frightful rule.

  1. Poor Bobby was being split down in the middle in this one. It broke my heart :(

  2. Ahhhhhh! Nobody suffers emotional anguish better than Bobby! This eppy was an emotional roller coaster! I can't help but cry with him every time I watch it!

  4. I am very torn about this episode, BUT I did love the desk clearing scene. I love how he walks up to the desk to pick up his binder, and he's already boiling with anger. Then some book gets stuck on his binder and that's the point when he looses it! I know there's some discussion about this scene, but IMHO Bobby never meant to clear the desk when he walked up to it. It's just that tiny detail (the book getting stuck) that ignites his anger... It rang so true to me, because that's usually how things happen to me. I'm angry, but I keep control. But then, just a tiny thing goes wrong (usually completely unrelated to my anger) and I loose it...
I thought this scene was extremely well acted, absolutely true to human behavior. I give VDO lots of credit for it. Excellent acting.

  5. interesting and smart analysis, tjara. i wasn't able to do that because i was trying to breathe when i watched that scene (without success).
it was not the first time he lost control, but the first time he didn't care about. which made that scence so powerful.

  6. Oh I sure know that feeling, too!
It just that I'd seen this scene so often in fanvideos before seeing "The War at Home", it never really surprised me. But maybe jazzy, one day we can do a joint viewing and I'll talk you through it ;-)

  7. Beautiful poem is that an original? You have an exquisite style, fits the episode perfectly. It is so heartbreaking watching him in this one. You feel so helpless when someone you love is terminally ill. He did a brillant job of acting, he's so human so real to life.

Vincent is FAR too good at ripping out my aorta!! I know he's only 'pretending' but it doesn't feel like it at the time :0(

  10. He looks so beautiful when he is sad, and that makes it even harder to watch.
