OK. So the recurring character of Nicole Wallace is not, shall we say, everybody's cup of tea (and scones, of course.) She's a self-confessed nutta and a psychopath, and easily Bobby's equal intellectually.
But that is precisely what has made her so interesting and so dangerous.
TV Guide interview with Vincent D'Onofrio, June 27, 2008:
Sure, she's a purring, pillow-lipped blonde who has no qualms about using her feminine charms on Goren at every available opportunity - plainly driving him half crazy some of the time - but it's her mind that really tortures our hero.
Wallace is the only person who can go head case to head case in the interrogation room and get the better of Goren, taunting "Bubby" in her Australian patois and seeing right through his protective shell to all that ... pain.

"That's the only true relationship with a woman that he's had in the last seven years other than his mom," notes D'Onofrio. "Which is very screwed up."
The end result is very profound effect on poor Detective Goren.

Don't think for a second that this is the end of us Bobby!

ReplyDeleteActually I seem to remember, in a very early episode, Bobby saying he could vouch for some lucky wench in another department, to which Eames replied 'You dog!' so he HAS had a relationship, however BRIEF, which someone female who wasn't a raving physcopath or his mother.
Since Vincent (understandably, after what, 121 episodes now?) seems to have forgotten that bit, I need to take him in hand and 'enlighten' him....
Sorry, what were we discussing??
After reading the spoilers, I have a feeling this may be the end of the line for our dear Nicole. But only Sunday's episode will reveal that little tidbit. Those spoilers are driving me absolutely crazy!!!
ReplyDeleteOh yay! I love her character.
ReplyDeleteShe'd better go down now or I'll come over there and make her.
ReplyDelete"That's the only true relationship with a woman that he's had in the last seven years other than his mom..." Sorry what??? A relationship??? No f**** way!

You had to spoil my breakfast didn't you?? I didn't need to see Nicole this early in the day..I don't need to see her at all actually :-D
ReplyDeleteThinking that she is the only woman he's had any relationship with in the last 7 years(apart from his mom)doesn't say a lot for his relationship with Alex does it??
Now I'm going back to burying my head until Monday morning!
EXCELLENT point, Eliza.
ReplyDeleteIt's time forBobby to get her out of his head.
